If you are reading this, then you probably understand that God has a plan to bring blessings to all the families of the earth through the nation of Israel (Genesis 12). You will also know that our scriptures came from the Jewish people and that our saviour, Jesus, also came from the Jewish people. As Jesus Himself said in John 4:22, “salvation is from the Jews.” Not only that, but you most likely understand that Jesus’ Second Coming is intricately linked to Israel’s spiritual reawakening (Psalm 67, Zechariah 12, and Matthew 23). So as events unfold in the Middle East, you may wonder: “What can I do to bless Israel, from over here in Australia?”
The answer lies right within the walls of your home.
Israeli research suggests that approximately 40,000 young Israelis travel the world for an average of six months following their mandatory army service, before they go to university or start their careers. Most of these Israelis are in a formative season of life. Even before October 7th last year, many were hurting, questioning, or feeling lost and in need of direction. Since the war, this has become even more true. They’re seeking experiences or answers that may somehow answer some of life’s most important questions.
It is within this transitional phase that they are particularly receptive to contemplating the messiahship of Yeshua (Jesus).
This is where you come in.
Should you be willing to open not just your home but also your heart, you can extend invitations to Israelis for brief stays in your home, to demonstrate the love of Jesus through the simple gift of hospitality.
Your open-hearted free hospitality holds the power to be transformative and thought-provoking, serving as a testament to the love and salvation of Jesus—bringing scripture to life (Romans 11:11).
In February 2023, Celebrate Messiah launched a new network in Australia, called Host Israelis, which is an online platform enabling willing Christians to apply to become a host for Israeli travellers. Host Israelis enable Christians who have a spare room and a willing heart, to be able to connect with Israelis who are travelling through Australia.
Through the online platform, hosts receive training and support and you will be able to get connected with other hosts on the network.
When our hosts take in Israelis at no cost, they are often asked by their guests, “Why do you do this?”—an opportune moment to share their desire to bless God’s people because of their Messiah. If the opportunity arises, hosts freely express their faith in Jesus. At times this has led to opening up the Hebrew scriptures and recounting the impact Yeshua has had on their lives. This storytelling becomes a potent testimony, and often an eye-opening witness for Israelis, as they generally do not get any real exposure to Christians back home. Typically, this experience forges lasting connections as hosts often maintain contact with these travellers long after their departure.
More Hosts Needed
The Host Israelis network is still relatively new and we need more hosts, so that every Israeli travelling to Australia has the opportunity to stay in a believers home at least once on their trip.
Our network of hosts around the country includes our ZulaRoo Surf House in Apollo Bay, Victoria. ZulaRoo is a newly acquired guesthouse with a larger capacity than a normal home, dedicated for Israeli travellers and hosted by a Christian family.
All the hosts on our network are Christians who love Israel and enjoy opening their hearts and homes to Israeli travellers. Our hosts are connected with each other as a community and we regularly meet up on zoom to share experiences, to pray and encourage each other. Every host finds the hosting experience a blessing.
