Mandy Worby Shares Insights from the Front Lines
As tensions in the Middle East escalate dramatically, respected Israel commentator Mandy Worby has shared sobering insights into the unfolding conflict involving Israel, Iran and the United States.
Speaking in a recent podcast interview with Neil Johnson on Vision Christian Media’s 20Twenty, Mandy highlighted both the regional stakes and the human cost of war, being “glued to the news” since hostilities erupted, as events moved rapidly from breaking reports to deeply polarised global commentary.
At the centre of the controversy are pre-emptive strikes launched by Israel in coordination with the United States against Iranian regime and military targets. While much of the international media has framed the action as illegal under international law, Mandy strongly disputed that narrative.
“This is not a new conflict,” she explained. “Iran has been openly threatening Israel and the United States for decades, funding and directing terror proxies throughout the region and pursuing nuclear capability with the stated aim of wiping Israel off the map.”
According to Mandy, the strikes followed years of explicit warnings and came in response to Iran’s continued refusal to halt its nuclear weapons programme. She noted that Iran’s leadership has repeatedly called for Israel’s destruction since the 1979 Islamic Revolution, making the threat neither theoretical nor distant.
Civilian Targets and Media Claims
Mandy also addressed accusations circulating internationally that Israel deliberately targeted civilian infrastructure such as schools and hospitals. Drawing parallels with earlier claims during the Gaza conflict, she urged caution.
“We’ve seen this before,” she said, referencing the Al-Shifa hospital incident in Gaza, where initial claims against Israel were later proven false following independent investigations. In the current conflict, she stated that Israeli strikes have been limited to military and regime facilities, while evidence suggests some civilian casualties resulted from misfired Iranian rockets.
“The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps has a documented pattern of operating near civilian sites, then shifting blame when things go wrong,” she said.
A Broader Regional War
While Iran has claimed it is only targeting US interests, Mandy described a far wider impact. Missiles have struck civilian areas and infrastructure across the Middle East, including international airports in the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait and Bahrain, as well as sites in Saudi Arabia and Israel.
Iran’s decision to close the Strait of Hormuz—a critical shipping route—has further escalated tensions, with Mandy describing it as “an act of war” affecting all Gulf nations. Reports of an oil tanker being attacked and a UK RAF base in Cyprus coming under fire underline the conflict’s global implications.
Voices from Israel
Perhaps most poignant were Mandy’s personal accounts from friends living in Israel. She described a nation united behind the military action, having lived for years under what she called a “daily threat of extermination”.
“People are prepared,” she said. “They’re living in safe rooms and shelters. They’ve had enough and want this threat removed once and for all.”
Mandy shared reports from Beit Shemesh, where an entire family — parents and four children — was killed during an attack and where homes have been destroyed and communities left reeling. At the time of the interview, she said at least nine people had been killed and more than 120 injured in Israel.
A Moment of Change?
In a striking development, Mandy noted reports of Iranians celebrating in the streets inside Iran and in diaspora communities after claims that the country’s Supreme Leader had died. She urged caution about what comes next, while calling on Christians worldwide to pray for peace and protection for innocent lives on all sides.
