“Thus says the Lord of hosts: ‘Behold I will break the bow of Elam, the foremost of their might … For I will cause Elam to be dismayed before their enemies and before those who seek their life. I will bring disaster upon them, My fierce anger’ says the Lord; ‘And I will send the sword after them until I have consumed them.’” (Jeremiah 49: 35 & 37 NKJV)

The 12-Day War of June 2025

During June we saw the most amazing military campaign take place since the Six-Day War of June 1967, as Israel’s air-force decimated Iran’s military leadership – including the IRGC’s top brass and leading nuclear scientists – its nuclear programme (with US help) and ballistic missile capability, all without the loss of a single Israeli fighter jet or pilot. However, Israel’s civilian population paid a heavy price as Iranian ballistic missiles killed 28 people, wounded three thousand more people, and left many thousands homeless as the result of apartment blocks and even whole neighbourhoods being destroyed.

Nevertheless, the death-toll would have been far worse if it wasn’t for Israel’s sophisticated air defence system – the Arrow anti-ballistic missile system, David’s Sling and Iron Dome – that intercepted more than 90% of Iran’s ballistic missiles and 99.9% of all drones. Indeed “He who watches over Israel neither slumbers nor sleeps.” (Psalm 121:4)

“With the crushing of most of Iran’s proxies—Hezbollah, Hamas, and the Assad regime —we have seen the ‘bow of Elam’ seriously debilitated…”

The Scripture above is part of a prophecy against Elam – i.e. Iran – and could easily refer to the evil regime of the Ayatollahs. In verse 38 the Lord says that He “will destroy from there the king and princes”. Verse 39 tells us: “it shall come to pass in the latter days.” Does this mean the time in which we are now living?

However, the 12-Day War, as President Trump referred to it, is far from over. As we write now in the first half of July, there is uncertainty about whether all the nuclear material has been destroyed, or how far the regime’s nuclear ambitions have been set back. The bow of Elam is not yet broken, even though some of its ‘princes’ are now eliminated. The Ayatollahs’ death threats against Israel and the USA – along with their intention to rebuild their nuclear capability is still alive and well – and will remain so until these evil rulers in Tehran are deposed. God has said He will do it, and so we must beseech Him to carry out what He has said He will do.

The ‘12-Day War’ ended suddenly with the declaration of a cease-fire by President Donald Trump. Many Israelis believe that this ceasefire was premature, and certainly the President did not impose any conditions on the Iranian regime – e.g. to completely dismantle what remains of their nuclear programme and recognise Israel’s right to exist in peace. So, what was behind this demand for a ceasefire? No doubt internal politics within the US was a factor, including Trump’s ‘America First’ policy and his desire to be known as a peace-maker. But there was also another factor: the Abraham Accords.

The Abraham Accords and the establishment of a Palestinian state.

During President Trump’s visit in mid-May to Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Qatar, which was primarily to make investment deals with these countries that would be beneficial to the USA, another of his main aims was to expand the Abraham Accords to include other Arab countries – especially Saudi Arabia and possibly even Syria – with the intention that they would ‘normalise’ relations with the Jewish State and recognise its right to exist. While there are undoubtedly positive aspects to the Abraham Accords as far as Israel is concerned, there is a definite downside. That downside is an expectation – particularly by Saudi Arabia – that Israel will accept the establishment of a Palestinian state in Judea and Samaria. As far as Israel is concerned this is a complete non-starter – and especially since the atrocities committed on October 7, 2023, and the widespread approval of the Hamas attack by the majority of Arabs in Judea and Samaria. In fact, the Knesset has voted overwhelmingly against allowing the formation of a Palestinian state. It is interesting that during PM Netanyahu’s recent visit to the White House – the third since Trump took office in January – the US President did not insist on Israel agreeing to a Palestinian state. Neither was there any public statement on the progress of the Abraham Accords.

On the other hand, the recognition and the forced establishment of a Palestinian state is far from off the UN agenda – even in the face of the butchery and murder of Jews by ‘Palestinians’ that took place on that dreadful day. After heavy pressure by President Trump the Saudi/French-sponsored conference, that was due to take place at the UN between June 17 and 20, was indefinitely postponed because of the war between Israel and Iran. However, that is not the end of it, as was demonstrated at a recent state visit by French President Emmanuel Macron to the United Kingdom. Speaking to the British Parliament, he called for an immediate unconditional ceasefire in Gaza – i.e. surrender by Israel to Hamas without any more hostages being returned – and the recognition of the State of Palestine. His remarks received widespread applause by Parliamentarians, including Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer. What happens at the UN General Assembly gathering in September will be interesting to observe.

Do ‘the Palestinians’ support the Two-State paradigm?

If one listens to what is propagated by the Palestinian media in Arabic*, then the short answer to the question is a resounding ‘No’. The Palestinian leadership has rejected every offer of statehood to date. Both Hamas and the Palestinian Authority want one thing: the eradication of the Jewish state. The establishment of a Palestinian state in the so-called West Bank and in Israel’s ancient capital would certainly help that end, and the UN knows it, I suspect. However, amid the ongoing war in Gaza an interesting development is happening. Some of the clan leaders there are beginning to side with Israel to defeat Hamas. In Hebron a group of five Sheikhs has said they want to break away from the corrupt Palestinian Authority, set up their own independent ‘emirate’ and recognise Israel’s right to exist as a Jewish state. These clan leaders in Hebron represent a collective population of hundreds of thousands of Arabs. There has even been talk about them eventually joining the Abraham Accords.

This concept of ‘emirates’, though little-known, is not entirely new. There are clan leaders in other cities in Area ‘A’ – e.g. Ramallah, Jericho, Nablus and Jenin – who may follow suit. Dr Mordechai Kedar, an IDF Intelligence Officer, who has a PhD in Arab culture and speaks the language fluently, has met with some of these clan leaders. We filmed an extensive interview with him for a possible Part Three of “Whose Land?” Of course, both the Palestinian Authority and Hamas are totally opposed to this concept of independent emirates for obvious reasons – Israel lives on.

Contrary to what is popularly pumped out by the UN and in most of the media, there is no principle of established international law that requires the establishment of a Palestinian state in what is called the ‘West Bank’ and ‘East Jerusalem’. In fact the forced establishment, without Israel’s willing consent, would not only be a violation of international law, but a violation of the UN Charter as well. So why do the nations of the world – including many nations in the European Union – pursue this political sacred cow that should be slaughtered? Are these nations in support of Iran’s frequently stated aim of wiping Israel off the map? Indeed, this is one of the reasons why the Iranian regime has armed and financed Hamas, and continues to support Palestinian terrorism in Judea and Samaria.

Israel – the Unrivalled Superpower of the Middle East

With the crushing of most of Iran’s proxies – Hezbollah, Hamas, and the Assad regime – we have seen the ‘bow of Elam’ seriously debilitated, even if it is not yet completely destroyed. This is the miraculous hand of the God of Israel. After all, in the vision of the Valley of Dry Bones that He gave to the prophet Ezekiel in regard to the national resurrection of Israel, He did say that He would raise Israel as “an exceedingly great army”. (Ezekiel 37:10). Today, Israel is the unrivalled military superpower of the Middle East. The Lord, in part, has used the USA to bring this about, but nevertheless it is He that has done it. The nations that come against Israel, either militarily or politically – and this includes the UN – are actually pitting themselves against the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. This warning not only includes the jihadists and the nations of the world, but also the churches that espouse ‘Replacement Theology’ and seek to delegitimise the reborn State of Israel.
