On October 7, 2023, Hamas fighters launched rockets into Israel and stormed southern Israeli cities and towns across the Gaza border. Numerous Israeli men, women, and children lost their lives. We continue to share the stories of that day to ensure the world remembers how the war in Gaza began.

In this interview, we share the story of survivor Shani Teshuvah, where one phone call changed the fate of Kibbutz Zikim. We also hear from Moshe Marwik, a combat medic who miraculously survived an intense five-hour battle against an overwhelming Hamas force at Kibbutz Sufa.

My father was a Holocaust survivor. Whilst he did not talk about that time it was a pervasive influence on my upbringing. On his left hand were two large blue letters tattooed K L, which meant in German Concentration Lager or an inmate of the Nazi death camp.
