Pesach in Time of War

by | Apr 1, 2026 | Videos

Welcome to the weekly update from Israel and Christians. Today, we discuss the significance of Pesach (Passover) as the Jewish people prepare to celebrate it during a time of conflict. Christians will soon observe Easter, which beautifully parallels themes found in Pesach.

The Significance of Pesach and Easter

Pesach commemorates the liberation of the Jewish people from slavery in Egypt. During this time, each household was instructed to sacrifice an unblemished lamb and mark their doorposts with its blood, symbolising God’s protection and deliverance.

Similarly, Easter represents the belief in the liberation of all humanity from sin through the sacrifice of Jesus, the Lamb of God, and His resurrection. Although Christians and Jews celebrate these events at different times—Pesach runs from April 1 to April 9, while Easter follows on April 5 for Western churches and April 12 for Eastern traditions—it is a poignant reminder of our shared history and faith.

The Struggles We Face

The ongoing conflict with Iran brings added tension during this season. Recent events include the wounding of 14 individuals, including children, from missile attacks as Iran continues to target Israel. Despite efforts to diminish Iran’s military capabilities, missile attacks persist.

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) report significant achievements, successfully striking Iranian regime targets. As geopolitical tensions rise, international responses vary, with the US considering strategies to define the future of engagement with Iran.

Challenges on the Ground

In Israel, the new death penalty law for terrorists has sparked debate regarding its implications. Meanwhile, security concerns have impacted religious services. Restrictions limit gatherings to 50 people, affecting Easter observances, yet efforts are being made to allow for worship under these guidelines.

A Call for Prayer and Unity

During this time, we urge our audience to pray fervently. As the Jewish people celebrate Pesach, let us lift them up in prayer, asking for God’s blessings as they remain steadfast in the land. Pray for peace among all inhabitants, bridging divides and fostering understanding between Jewish and Arab communities.

In this Easter season, may the church awaken to the biblical purposes God has for both Jews and Gentiles, as referenced by Paul in Romans 11. Above all, let us pray for the swift return of the Messiah, the promise of our faith.

Thank you for tuning in to this week’s update. We wish everyone celebrating Pesach and Easter the blessings of joy and peace. Until next week, God bless.
