Welcome to the weekly update of Israel and Christians Today for Friday, 13th March 2026. As Christians, we are called to discern the signs of the times, and one significant sign is the rising influence of political Islam. This growing power poses challenges to nations worldwide, especially Israel and its allies in the West.
Recognising the Challenge
Understanding the threats we face does not equate to advocating for warfare but rather to acknowledging the reality that surrounds us. The Western world, built on Judeo-Christian values, is currently under attack by radical political Islam. This struggle is hardly over; in fact, it may be just beginning.
Political Islam pursues global dominance and aims to weaken and ultimately destroy Western influence. At the forefront of this conflict is Iran, whose revolutionary regime established in 1979 has consistently aimed to annihilate both the United States and Israel.
The Iranian Regime’s Aggression
Evidence of this radical agenda can be seen in Iran’s eliminationist rhetoric and its pursuit of a nuclear weapons program. Coupled with a massive ballistic missile initiative and support for proxy groups, the regime’s intentions are alarmingly clear. Moreover, its internal human rights abuses increase international concern.
Recent military operations, named Operation Epic Fury (led by the U.S.) and Operation Lion’s Roar (conducted by Israel), have marked a new phase in this ongoing conflict. These operations focused on aerial bombings targeting Iranian military infrastructure and leadership, particularly the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), which has long been an instrument of oppression, both within Iran and abroad.
Broader Regional Impacts
The war has a far-reaching impact, affecting energy markets globally and escalating tensions along Israel’s northern border with Lebanon. Here, the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) are currently engaged in intense encounters against Hezbollah, a group showing increased aggression. Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz has warned that should Lebanon fail to disarm Hezbollah, the IDF will take significant action against the group’s infrastructure.
As we assess the situation, military analyst Major Andrew Fox suggests that while tactical air superiority has been achieved, the question of strategic victory remains unresolved. How long will this war last? What will become of the Iranian regime? These uncertainties loom large over the current conflict.
Legal Battles and International Responses
Another front in the war against political Islam is unfolding in international courts. South Africa’s proceedings regarding alleged genocide have drawn support from various nations, while countries like the United States and Hungary have intervened to argue in favour of Israel. This legal combat represents a new dimension of the global conflict against radical ideologies.
The question remains whether Western nations will awaken to the reality of this attack. The existential threat of political Islam challenges us to remain vigilant, united, and grounded in prayer.
Conclusion
In conclusion, we face an ongoing existential conflict. Let us continually pray for the peace of Jerusalem, the liberation of the Iranian people from tyranny, and wisdom for the leaders of Israel, the United States, and all nations affected by this crisis. Let us also seek the swift return of our Lord and Saviour, the Messiah of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
Thank you for joining us for this weekly update. We wish you a blessed weekend. God bless.
